How it works

The last
antifouling job.

Hull dry from day one.

The product

A dock that lives in the water so your hull doesn't have to.

FloatX is a system of interlocking modular blocks configured to your vessel's exact dimensions. It forms a rigid floating dock at your marina pen, jetty, or canal access point.

Marine growth requires water contact. FloatX removes that permanently: no antifouling, no haul-out, no diver cleans. The dock rises and falls with the tide. Your mooring doesn't change. Only the hull's position does.

Why it works

Three reasons it works.

It rises with the tide.

The dock rises and falls with the tide, keeping the hull consistently above the waterline. No fixed supports, no adjustments required.

The hull cradle.

Padded rollers configured to your beam and hull profile. Weight distributed evenly to protect the gelcoat and hull structure.

No water. No growth.

Marine organisms need water to colonise a hull. In WA's warm water, fouling starts within days of paint losing effectiveness. FloatX removes that contact permanently.

Installation

From enquiry to boating.
Here's exactly what happens.

01

Tell us about your setup.

Describe your situation: boat size, location, and how you currently store or moor. We'll ask the right questions and calculate the dock configuration required for your specific vessel.

We'll give you an indicative price at this stage so you know what you're looking at before we go any further.

02

Site assessment.

A FloatX team member reviews your waterway access: marina pen dimensions, jetty setup, tidal range, water depth, and any site-specific conditions.

We'll walk you through any council or waterway authority approvals that apply to your location. This is something we've navigated before. We'll tell you exactly what's required.

03

Configuration and components.

Once the site is confirmed, we assemble the components specific to your dock: blocks, rollers, flat pins, and bolts configured precisely to your vessel's measurements.

Vessels over 2 tonne require additional airlift components. This is confirmed at the assessment stage and priced accordingly.

04

Installation. Then go boating.

Most FloatX installs are completed in a single day. The dock is assembled at your mooring location. Your boat is guided onto the dock. Hull goes onto the dry dock.

That is the last day you will ever book an antifouling service.

Heavier vessels

Over 2 tonne. The airlift system.

For vessels over 2 tonne, FloatX integrates airlift units into the dock configuration. The system raises the hull cleanly above the waterline and lowers it back to water level when you're ready to go. Getting on and off is as straightforward as any other vessel.

Every airlift configuration is assessed and built individually. The specifics of how the system works for your vessel are covered at the site assessment stage. If you have a heavier boat, get in touch and we'll walk you through what's involved for your exact setup.

What changes

Before and after. The same boat.

Before FloatX

August. Antifouling season.

Haul-out booked three months ahead. First spring weekend lost to hardstand and PPE. $2,000–$3,500 invoice. Hull fouling again within weeks. Repeat.

Before FloatX

Any Friday arvo.

Drive to the marina. Hull's been in the water three weeks. Motor's been sitting. You'll get out there eventually. It just takes longer than it should.

After FloatX

Every trip, from day one.

Walk down. Step on. Go. Hull has been dry-docked since install. No checklist, no backlog. The boat is ready before you are.

Common questions

What WA boat owners ask us.

Yes. FloatX installs in your existing pen. Your mooring arrangement doesn't change and you don't give up the pen. The dock sits inside the pen, your boat sits on the dock, and the hull comes out of the water. The pen fee continues; the antifouling bill ends.

Most of our Perth and Mandurah installations are at marina pens. We assess each pen's dimensions and tidal range at the site visit.

FloatX floats. The dock rises and falls with the tide. Your hull stays elevated above the waterline regardless of tidal state. Perth and Mandurah's tidal range is well within operating parameters. We account for local tidal conditions in the site assessment.

FloatX has been installed under vessels from 4.5m tinnies through to large cruisers in the 10m+ range. Each dock is configured to the specific dimensions and weight of your vessel.

Vessels over 2 tonne require airlift units added to the configuration. Every job is assessed individually. If you have a heavier vessel and you've assumed a floating dock isn't viable, that assumption is worth challenging.

Requirements vary by waterway and local government area. Floating structures in WA often fall under a lighter approval pathway than fixed jetties, but this depends on your specific location.

We've been through the WA approvals process across Perth and Mandurah. As part of the site assessment we'll confirm what applies to your location and walk you through it. Included, not an add-on.

Built for it. WA's afternoon sea breeze, summer UV, and coastal conditions are the exact environment FloatX is designed for. Every component is marine-grade and UV-stabilised for prolonged salt air and sun exposure. If you want the technical specifications on wind load tolerances and storm performance, ask us. We'll give you the detail.

Yes, and more easily than before. With the hull elevated, you can inspect the bottom, check anodes, and do minor hull work without arranging a haul-out. For owners who previously needed a boatyard visit just to see the underside of their boat, this is one of the more useful side-effects of FloatX.

Most installs are completed in a single day. Vessels over 2 tonne may require additional time for the airlift configuration. We'll give you a realistic timeframe at the site assessment.

Minimal. No moving parts, no painted surfaces, no scheduled replacement cycle, no biocides. The components are designed for continuous exposure to WA's marine environment. Compared to what you're currently doing: annual haul-outs, antifouling, diver cleans. FloatX maintenance is negligible. Full requirements given upfront.
